What I'm hoping to do is put the amount of free space on my desktop right under the Macintosh HD... I have a G3 and it still says 6 GB... I'd like for it to show how much actual space I have. Thanks

Go to "View' in the menu bar, from the drop down menu select "Show View Options" and check "Show item Info".

Ron,

This is just a thought and other may be able to add some of their expertise, but did this strange behavior begin after the Apple tech rep had you rebuild your PRAM?

Are you sure hingy? I just dumped some stuff from my Jag partition and the change appeared as soon as I emptied the trash.

No. it stays the same, no doubt. Folders do show update number of items but it is of course the HD space im interested in as withe the original 14Gs, im living on a thin line. This is a BW G3, on Jag.
I guess i need an updated "how big." I miss my share- and freeware.
