Linking folders?
« on: March 18, 2003, 08:23:00 PM »
Well that's what I am calling for lack of a better word.  I'm sure there is a term for this, but nothing is coming to my brain at this moment.

Is there a way to link 2 folders together?  Here is what I want to do.  When I work on my website I have everything in a folder on my external HD and one on my internal HD.  I usually work off the external folder, then when I am finished for the time being, I copy that folder and overwrite the one on my internal.  Is there a way to automatically do this?  I'm not talking about getting some extensive backup utility (which I probably should have).  I'm just wondering if there is a way to do this in the OS itself?  I am running Jag.

Thanks.  I hope I made sense.

Nothing available in the OS itself (a file syncronizer was avilable in 9), except maybe an AppleScript that would copy the folder, but that would do about the same as drag and drop. I would look for a file syncronizer on versiontracker, there must be one.

Good Luck.

Jay -

I would think you'd be able to find a shell script out there that could do that, but in the mean time, here's something I dug up.

Hope that helps.

Why not put an alias of the folder of the internal drive on the external, then you wouldn't have to copy anything when done.
