One for music lovers... isn\'t that all of us?

Looking for a link for another thread I stumbled on this tale of a student who has developed a program that checks out what you listen to and then suggests other music you might like.

Just taken another look at Audioscrobbler (strange name!) and the play list makes interesting reading. It's constantly updated, so you can find everything from Beethoven and Pachelbel to Metallica, Tom Waits, ZZ Top abd umpteen artists I've never heard of. The record industry should love it, since it doesn't provide any music - just a list of what people are listening to on their computers. At lunchtime UK time, there were 600-odd members and 1,800 or so guests on line, so it seems to be gaining in popularity.
And a fun bit is trying to picture what someone is doing along with their music... a spreadsheet with eminem, perhaps? Setting up a business website to Jimi Hendrix?
And if you are into statistics, the web figures make fascinating reading. Naturally most users are on Windoze, but there are actually more Linux than Mac users!!

Boy, that wouldn't work for me!  My husband and my kids tease me about my varied taste in music.  I love EVERYTHING, from the classics to country, and everything in between.  It only has to be -- are you ready for this level of technological specs? -- a good tune!

Bizet's Carmen is one of my favorite classics, along with Ravel's Bolero, and I have to stop the car to listen to Mozart's A little night music.  Same for Gershwin, and believe it or not, I have a CD of American Marching music!  Very stirring, especially in these patriotogenic times!

Does anyone remember Classical Gas?  And Feels So Good?  I'm showing my age, I guess, but I don't know of anything more recent that is better.

But my favorite CD is the Best of Country, with The Devil Went Down to Georgia and I'm Just a Country Boy.  That will bring ANYONE out of a depressed mood, I think!  And of course, the King, Garth Brooks.  And Shania.  And... Well, you get the picture.  Don't need Autoscrobbler here!!
