I just can't seem to help myself, I try to resist but they are so alluring...kexts, pref.panes, and Login Items...
...So in an effort to free myself of their evil influence I am seeking your comments and anecdotal evidence...
1st: (and closest to my heart) Fruit Menu - I detest the stale implementation of the Apple Menu is OS X. But is Fruit menu rotten?
2nd: (and inextricably linked to Fruit Menu) APE Application Enhancer Module - A shared library and interface for programs extending functionality, should it be caged?
3rd: (my oldest friend) Keyboard Maestro - This lovely little trinket offer a beautiful interface and loads of features for Application Switching(I believe it's first incarnation was Program Switcher in the OS 8 & 9 era). I despise the Command-Tab Dock interface for switching Apps, but is it really worth endangering my system for aesthetics?
4th: Spy: (the little engine that could) - Spy simply reports CPU load in the most compact method I've ever seen(entirely within the menu bar) while providing useful feedback by distinguishing between System Resources and User Resources. But might Spy be a double agent?
What has made we question the use of all the wonderfull extras is that graphics intensive games seem to "Unexpectedly Quit" or even Crash my entire machine(Age of Empires II and Ghost Recon being the worst offenders).
Anyone want to weigh in?
