importing Safari bkmrks into OmniWeb
« on: April 09, 2003, 07:04:00 PM »
I am trying out OmniWeb and need to import Safari's bookmarks.  Is Safari's bookmarks in the Library folder?  Is see History.plist, Downloads.plist and Bookmarks.plist.  When trying to import from here, they are greyed out.  Am I not looking in the right place?

I attempted to export Safari bookmarks, only to Camino with the same results. Apparantly Apple doesn't want use to move.

It would appear that it can't be done. I tried various work arounds - trying to copy and paste the bookmarks into other formats/programs - no go. They copy and paste, but turning them into something that the other programs recognize as a bookmarks list is another matter. The plist file can be opened in BBEdit, but what the heck you're supposed to do with it, is anyone's guess.

The only real workaround is to use URL Manager Pro - which can, apparently, import bookmarks from Safari.

Simple solution.

Open both Browsers.

Go to every Bookmark in the one.

Copy and Paste the URL in the other one.

Bookmark it.

No need to thank me.

Kelly, when you get done at Csonni's and Gmann's houses, I have about 600 or so to keep you busy for a while. We have a spare room...

$25 for URL Manager Pro is looking cheap...(actually bought it ages ago, so can get the $11.95 upgrade to 3.05)
