Photoshop Elements 2.0

Has anyone used this on Jag (10.2.4)?  If so what do you think of it. I would like to know its capabilities and limitations. Thanks.

I do use elements 2.0 with 10.2.4 & aside from being a little slow to open, I can't say I've found any limitations.

As far as its capabilities go, I pbly will not get to the bottom of them as it can do so much. Some of it is  over my head, but with time I'll figure it out.

The instant fix for photos is really great. Their help in the program can't be beat.

Go to the Adobe site & click on the discussion forums page & look for Elements. They have a very good forum & you'll learn a lot by just reading there.  HTH.

I got it for my kids to use, but haven't gotten it installed yet. From everything I've read, it has most of the capabilities of Photoshop and Image Ready, minus some of the high-end graphics abilities only used by pros. I have Photoshop 7, but am curious to play around with Elements, which also has some features that Photoshop doesn't, like an automatic panorama stitcher.

Amazon.com has another of their rebate deals running - $30 Amazon rebate, which brings the price down to $55, and if you are upgrading from something like PhotoDeluxe, you can get another $30 rebate from Adobe. Be aware of the deadlines though - they had this same deal running at Christmas, and I forgot to mail the darn thing in within the 6 weeks allowed and only got one of the rebates.

I have it on my G3 running OS9.1 and it works fine. I haven't gotten around to putting it on the 10.2.4 machine yet. I was talking to someone from Adobe about it yesterday(while I was checking out upgrading my Photoshop 5.5) and she said it's only been tested through 10.1.5 but she wasn't aware of any issues with 10.2.4. I posted about it at the Adobe Elements forums yesterday but forgot to check today.

I just went over there and 2 people said they are having no problems so.......

I like Elements. The panorama stitching is great. I've scanned large images in 3 pieces and put them together and they come out great. I usually like to do it by hand, draging and dropping in the lower window though-then i can get it right on.

The color management could be a little better by giving the user more choices. Other than that, it very good.

You don't get the healing brush but I'm pretty good without it.

No Curves and Channels...I miss Channels for doing Greyscale but there are other ways in Elements.

I still use Photoshop 5.5 if I need to use something Elements doesn't have. I may pop for 7...I don't know. Painter 8 just came out and I've spent so much money lately.............

Don't use X, but I bought Elements 2 a few months ago. Way more than I need or can use for now. Best Graphics program I have except for text I still like Canvas.

Anyway, if you also buy a book by Richard Lynch called The Hidden Power of Photshop Elements 2, you'll get several features that are in the full version of PS and many other extras. It has a CD included, so there is nothing to download. But he also has a website with additional free tricks to add to the Hidden panel.

As a matter of fact, some have suggested that he has put a damper on sales of the full version, since he adds so much power to Elements. He maintains he has done nothing to add anything to the program, except the ability to get to functions that were already built in but not accessable.

Anyway, with the book and the program you'll have everything you need until you open your own graphics service!

Added the link to his website. Noticed that Gary had posted before me. Channels and Curves are just two of the things Mr. Lynch added to the program. Also color separations, RGB and CMYK!. Different methods of masking, color balance, etc. More than I know what to do with them!    Be advised that the book is more like a workbook, specific lessons for specific results: first, he shows how to do things manually, then with the tools he includes. There are some typos, he has a users forum on the site but will sometimes contact you personally.

Thanks for all of the good info folks, it is much appreciated.
Paddy the amazon coupon for $30 is really buggered, it is oversized and of such poor quality that I doubt if it is viable.  I have had problems with their coupons in the past.  I will shop around and see if  I can find a deal somewhere else.  Thanks again all.

What (mostly) Gary said.
But he's far more gifted with these things than I am. I got the previous version of Elements with my scanner, use it sometimes, but not in OS X, and tried a demo of Elements 2 for almost a month.
I liked it a lot, since it made many things easy, but decided not to buy it in the end, because Graphic Converter and one or two other cheap apps or freebies do everything I need to do.

gmann, I just tried to send you a PDF of that coupon. However, it bounced - apparently your ISP is blocking ATTBI at the moment (they're on the blackholes list...why, I have no clue). Anyway, I uploaded the PDF HERE.

Why Amazon can't seem to figure out how to do PDF's instead of JPEG?s is beyond me! The dopes made the JPEG 9"X12" at 72 dpi.

You probably won't find a better deal anywhere else, if my experience at Christmas is anything to go by. Both DealTime and Pricewatch list the lowest price available at around $85. Academic pricing including shipping puts you somewhere around the Amazon price after their rebate - and if you qualify for the Adobe upgrade rebate too, it's a downright steal at $25. Old versions of PhotoDeluxe which came with a lot of scanners and cameras qualifies you for the upgrade rebate.

If anyone else wants a copy of the PDF coupon download away!

Thanks Paddy, I went ahead and ordered from Amazon.
The PDF was shrinkable but impossible to read at %75.  I will send it in anyway and see what happens.

Rather amusing.  My order would not arrive until 4-22, two days after the coupon would expire. I canceled the order and will look elsewhere. Oh well!

gmann, I believe that if you place the order today, this is the date that'll be on your invoice which will validate the rebate.  Amazon is really good about answering questions--call them and ask tomorrow, or anytime, actually.  Their number is 800.201.7575.  Press 'zero' to get customer service.  That's a great deal, especially with the 'free shipping'.  I have the program and love it!!

airbusdriver,  can you please repost the link to Richard Lynch's website.  I tried to find it in your post and on your website but it's eluding me--love the 'cat's bath'--that's a hoot!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone--this is like 'home away from home'!!

sunset,
I would have sworn I posted this the other day!        Maybe I put over at the new board?

Anyway, here's the link to Mr. Lynch's site:
