I updated to Sierra today. One odd thing: The download was for 10.12. After installation was complete, I saw that 10.12.1 was available. I had thought that the latest version would automatically be installed (this has happened in the past).

Otherwise, everything went smoothly and, so far, all seems well. I had to update Glimmer Blocker, Cocktail, OnyX, TinkerTool and TinkerTool System to their respective Sierra versions.

I am now on Sierra 10.12.1 with no problems. TechTool still says it "has not been tested with 10.12.1," but it works fine.

I just noticed something. After updating to 10.12.1, App Store shows that 5 updates available but doesn't list what they are nor any means of installing them. I have restarted and the same thing happens.

Is this just me or is App Store temporarily out of service?

EDIT: More info

I knew from MacUpdate and CNET which apps were being updated. I launched App Store and clicked the link for Apps Made By Apple. I was able to individually download and install them. As each was installed, the number of Updates Available was reduced by one. Finally, I launched iTunes and was informed of an update being available. I downloaded the update directly via iTunes, which opened the Updates pane of App Store. After the installation was complete, that pane told me that no updates were available but it also did not list updates installed in the last 30 days (which it did before).

I won't be upgrading soon. El Capitan is working fine. I'll wait a while as usual and see what problems develop.

Affinity Photo looks pretty good for $50.00! Have you worked with the trial at all? If so what did you think?

I just saw a glitch in the update to Sierra from El Cap. All the events that I had entered into Calendar were missing. Fortunately, I had made a clone of the El Cap system before updating so I was able to boot into it and retrieve the entries.

How did this happen?

You should always check the level of bit glue in your computer before upgrading the OS. You usually don't know you need a refill until something like you experienced happens. wallbash.gif

Thanks for your usual sage advice, Jim. Do you recommend Gorilla Glue, epoxy, Super Glue, or a different brand?  whistling.gif

If you find out more about this glitch, please let us/me know. I've not yet upgraded, so I'm making notes on what may happen.

Absolutely do NOT use any of those brands! You will void your warranty! nono.gif Use nothing but the Apple brand that is made exclusively for them by some folks in China from a rare breed of bird's nests! Be sure to get the "Extra Virgin" (not for human consumption) type, otherwise, there can be bits of nesting material in the glue!

Not sure who you are talking to there. Only sage we have in the house is the dried kind in a small bottle in the pantry. We get it from a local restaurant once a year when the sweep the kitchen floor. yum.gif

No - haven't had time. Will try to do so soon...just need to wade through a bunch of work first. "Retirement" seems to be eluding me. tongue.gif

I did and I don't think it's worth it. It does a lot but you can't save as a .jpg. It has it's own format something like .photo or something like that.

It's for people that use the Photo App. as far as I can discern.

Let me know if you do try it and you can save a file in the JPEG or a PSD format.

I couldn't. And certainly no hurry, I know you have a lot going on. wink.gif
