Thanks for the pictures, XABD, very nice looking specimen... not too old as his tail feathers aren't too long... couldn't see if he had any 'spurs' on his lower legs... another indicator of age.....

Like Jane said... a little corn around where he can find it, maybe under a pine if you have any....and he and his 'Missus' will be your friend for the winter...

Yes, great pics of the pheasant XABD!  I flushed one of those last month while walking a fence line out in the country.  We dodged the bullet on the snow this time although we had 8 inches elsewhere in our county and KC had a bunch of snow!  The timing of the storm really messed with the mind of the Lawrence School Superintendent and the kids have had yesterday and today off as "snow days" without any real snow!

When I first looked at the pheasant pic I thought the post was going to be about one that was torn apart or hit by a car. What I guess are leaves sure looked to me like feathers strewn about!  eek2.gif

Saw two pheasants on the roof of a neighbor's garage a couple years ago. They hung around the area for a while making that screaching noise. Think they were dinner for some dogs or maybe the coyote family that was also seen nearby.

It was 69º today followed by a nasty line of storms with tornado warnings. All gone now and the temp is dropping rapidly. Boooo.. sad.gif

Er, maybe a Canon, SB? It might be hard to find the bird if you actually managed to hit him with a cannon!! wink.gif  toothgrin.gif

Although a variety of such guns are commonly referred to as "cannon", the term specifically refers to a gun designed to fire a 42 lb shot as opposed to a "Demi-cannon" (32 lb)

We had thundersnow and blizzard conditions. On the way downtown, I got off the expressway one exit early, because it is downhill, and where I usually get off is uphill. At the bottom of the hill was a City truck that had been separated from it's plow, stuck in the snow, and a tow truck. It was slow going, but once I got to work, it didn't matter...
