It's been snowing / hailing / raining on and off since Sunday. We dipped down to 29F last night. We did see the sun for all of a minute today. Tomorrow? Well, here's the weather alert I just received. The comments are all mine. laugh.gif

QUOTE
Tuesday, 11/28/06 - 7:52pm ...

This is likely going to be the coldest night in three years across western Oregon. Temperatures have already dropped below freezing and are headed for the teens and low twenties under a clear sky. After a sunny day Wednesday with highs in the mid-30s, (oooohhhh .. a heat wave! I'll get my shorts out! LOL) warm, moist air will override the cold air and lead to freezing rain. Oh what a treat! We can ski down the hill right into the ocean. *snort* It may begin as snow in the pre-dawn hours Thursday before changing to freezing rain and then plain rain by late morning, as temperatures warm into the 40s Thursday afternoon. After that storm blows through, we should see much more settled weather into next week, with more dry days than wet and sunshine Friday and Saturday.

Stay Warm, yeah right!

What a crack up. You'd think I lived in Wisconsin or Minnesota or something. HAHAHA! My sis-in-law is talking about coming up in Jan. She still thinks she can put on a swimming suit and hit the beaches.  rofl.gif

How are the rest of you doing?

Unseasonably warm for the most part here in MA. I'm not complaining! Though I did notice one of my perennials was sending up new shoots. dry.gif A tad confused...

I was glancing through the classified section of the local paper today and couldn't help noticing that the price of firewood is HALF what it was last year at this time. One of the ads even said mentioned the "low prices due to the unseasonably warm weather" and having to get rid of over 1000 cords! Last year, of course, not only was it much colder, but the price of heating oil had everyone scurrying for alternatives.

Paddy,

Here in Beaverton we are expecting 18 F during the nite. Actually, I spent 18 years in Minnesota (Edina) and I think it is funny how people get upset with a minuscule amount of snow. There the lowest I remember was 20 F below zero as the high for one to two weeks in January! I love it! I wanted to turn the thermometer down to 55 F and open our bedroom window but my wife stubbornly refused!!

MM, I can see on my weather module (on my Excite start page) that the projected low for Corvallis is 20 F. Yikes. That's pretty hard on those zone 7 and 8 plants! I don't think it ever got quite that cold during the 6 years we lived there. We did get a foot of snow once though (1993 I think) - that really shut things down for a few days (except OSU, of course...my husband had to get to work somehow or other). The funny thing was - we had both my in-laws and my husband's best friend visiting from Toronto. The snow started late on Thursday and continued into Friday - my in-laws wisely cut their site-seeing short and arrived on Wednesday. Our friend however, had to stay in Portland through Friday as he was there on business, and didn't start out until late in the afternoon for our house, normally a 90 minute trip. During his 3+ hour trip down I-5 he saw at least 50 cars in the ditch, and more sets of chains that had fallen off cars than he could count. He had to park at the bottom of our hill and arrived at our front door in his running shoes, saying "I thought you told me it NEVER snows here!!!" The next day, as we all shovelled and shovelled, there was a considerable amount of good-natured complaining from the guests along the lines of "if we'd wanted to do THIS, we could have stayed home in Toronto!" It was incredibly beautiful though.

Drivers in Corvallis/western Oregon haven't the foggiest what to do when it gets icy or snowy. I got rear-ended once while waiting to turn left - road was icy and the driver just kept on sailing towards me, while I watched in my rearview mirror. Not a lot I could do...

So...be careful if you have to go out!

Yeah, you guys are gonna be *cold*. We'll likely stay in the mid-20's. I grew up in a 'burb of Chicago and snow doesn't bother me. I draw the line at the freezing rain that is coming. wink.gif

I've already lost my nasturtiums, winter pansies and a few other plants. Hoping we don't lose our rhodies.  sad.gif

Oh boy howdy. We cancelled tomorrow's trip to the vet. Abby's shot can wait until we aren't taking life and limb out on the roads. wink.gif  I gather you weren't seriously hurt? No fun to watch it coming at you.

The weather in Seattle didn't do the Packers much good on Monday night. What a mess! "Rush hour" was not over when the game let out? Amazing! Of course, the game started at 5:30 Pacific time.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and.........................

You get the picture!

Wind at a constant 50mph most days and nights.  Daylight is at 08.30 and dark by 15.10.  I have to leave a lantern at the end of my 1/2 mile track for my kids to find their way home.

For a better idea of our weather at the moment, I would refer Your Honour to this YouTube clip of someone's holiday.  It is not dissimilar at the moment.

Where is the snow??? This is one of the warmest Novembers on record in Vermont...

So, please, Kimmer, if you know a Voodoo ceremony that will swing the Polar Jet Stream further south like it's supposed to be, and we can start skiing, I'm all for it!!!

Send it!

Best,

Good heavens, dont let it come South. Stall it out for a while,,,,,
We need to finish raking, cut and trim our flowering shrubs, and do more outside stuff.
