Trashing KEYNOTE?
« on: April 27, 2026, 06:34:18 PM »
I just downloaded Keynote 15.2. The old one - 14.5- is still in my Apps folder. Can I or should I just trash it?

NO! :nono:

Don't be a sheep! Do some investigation, even if it has to be on Google. There is no reason to "trash" the old versions of Pages, Keynote or Numbers. :no2:

Educate yourself. Please. :coolio:

I will give you one free link: TidBits Feb 6, 2026

I trust advice here more than finding stuff on Google which is why I post a question here first. Thanks for your reply as always. I did try your link but "Safari can't find the Server".

If you can't connect with TidBITS.com, you have a serious problem with your Safari. :wallbash: That is the site, of course, (the oldest?) Apple tech info "magazine"/ user base in the world. You should definitely register and get very useful knowledge and tips from their staff and users.

Perhaps this link will work, I reached it while even being logged OUT.

Strange! Both your links give me the same message... "Can't find server"
Using MacBook Air 2024.
OS15.7.4 and Safari 18.6.
Yet I can go to tidbits.com without an issue.

I also cannot get anywhere with those links, Jim.  I either get a message that the server is busy, try later, or it can't be reached at all.

This may be the article you are trying to link, but even if not, it's interesting. Had no idea Apple had bundled the pro apps with the iWorks ones. In any case, Raven, I'd keep the old version of Keynote just in case the new one has problems.

Thanks for your help, Kriss and Raven!

Looking at the messages I made with baAD links, I see that my Typinator abbreviation is wrong. The new versions of the app must have made some changes.

The Typinator abbreviation was:
Code: [Select]
LINK_TEXT
However, looking at the text with those bad links, they have http:// added!
So the inserted text becomes:
Code: [Select]
LINK_TEXTObviously "http://"https://..." makes the link unusable.

Edited Typinator abbreviation:
Code: [Select]
LINK_TEXT
I think this works.
The elusive TB link!

I normally type the post with the proposed link text included. I then move the cursor to the beginning of that link text and type the Typinator abbreviation, a period and tsk. Four key presses and two copies and pastes.

Thanks to both of you. I'll guess I'll keep the older apps. Just in case.
I did try to read XAir's Tidbit link, but had to stop. Far too much info for me to understand a simple request.
Do I really need to take an electrical course to learn how to turn a light switch on?  :D
