AmicusE,

Try this:

Control-Click on a Smilie... or any image in your browser.

That should open a menu with three options.
  • 1. Open Image in New Window
  • 2. Download Image to Disk
  • 3. Copy Image to Clipboard
Use Option 2!

The nine years spent in the Seabees during 30 years in the Navy were by far the most memorable - thus my Seabee avatar.

Mine is the thumbnail for the curent Joy of Tech comic. When the avatar changes, then I know a new comic has been posted. I have no idea what that says about my mental state.

I think mine explains itself. Sandbox would know. Well, it would if I could find it again!
OK, there it is!

What Lorraine? Are you trying to get back on topic? smile.gif

Like I've said.

I've been reading Science Fiction for forty three years or so. smile.gif

Thanks. This works. Opens in Preview and side windows drop down; still unable to get the darned thing to activate in a message sent from MAIL. Even fired up OUTLOOK, which I haven't used in eons, and doesn't work there either. Not that important...thanks to all for your help.
All the best/æ

AmicusE’s dalliances notwithstanding, I do have a couple of observations.

kelly, I’m sorry, but I cannot find any reference to your reading Sci Fi for 43 years anywhere in this string.  Other strings do not count.  I thought that would be an obvious ground rule.  Here.  In any case, your avatar viewing Earth from another heavenly body is a perfect symbol of your second home -- Cyberspace!  But with over 7,000 posts here alone, perhaps that is really your first home, and Earth second?

sluggo why do we have to ask Sandbox?  You have a double-symbol there -- both the HD shield and the HD itself, driving by, to make doubly certain we know that we know that’s what you do.  Now you refer us to Sandbox for further explanation?  Do you feel unsure of yourself?  Do you have difficulty communicating your thoughts to others?  Is repetition the only way you can be sure that you have made your point?  Have I made my point?

gapstr, that is very functional.  Frankly, though, I have a feeling that the truth about your psyche lies somewhere in that comic strip.  I’ll have to take a look at it and get back to you.

Dave, Something memorable must have happened during those other 21 years!  Think about it!  A wild party or two?  A hazing by the WAVES?  What are you repressing, my dear fellow?

taliesin, life is full of choices, you know?  You cannot evade the responsibility forever.  Pick a country!  Any country!  Take a stand!  You’ll feel better, I promise.

Bill -- “Mine means nothing…”?  Such denial!  Of course it means something!  Everything means something.  Even nothing means something (that’s a hint for those who think not having an avatar will save them from psychoanalytic BS).

Jenny, you need a vacation, really.  Preferably somewhere that has no electrical connectivity.

Krissy, tell Jenny to buy 2 tickets.  On second thought, make that 3.  I’m coming, too.

tacit, analyzing anything about you conjures up that old feeling of being a kid in a candy store.  Let’s see, where to start, where to start?  Okay, what’s under the coat?

Paddy and RobW, you are perfectly healthy.  Don’t change a hair for anyone!

airbusdriver, if that really is a picture of you, you do not need a psychiatrist.  A plastic surgeon should be called immediately.  Maybe if you take that cap off…?

Diana, no “stick in the mud” would have an avatar with such panache!  It is one of the best.  You said you have been old since you were a teen?  Your avatar shows a perennial youthfulness.  Stick with it, sitm.

Dick(RHP) you need a self-esteem transplant.  Neither a curmudgeon nor an old goat could possibly be the guy we know & love to read on TS.

gmann, It is easy to see that you are proud to be from the old West -- maybe a century too late, though.  But why are you looking down?  Wondering whether it’s time for a new pair of s---kickers?

Let me just go ahead and apologize in advance for all of this!!!  Thanks for all being such good sports and indulging me!

Kelly, I use the same picture on my desktop. I always remember that picture from the Apollo missions. (Was that picture from Apollo 8?) It blew me away when I was a kid--and still does. smile.gif

Lorraine,

I can't speak for Paddy, but I don't think anyone's ever said that to me before. At least not that either of my personalities can recall. huh.gif

Well the devil gif I had up I thought was funny. So if thats a meaning,then .. guess so.

The cube is one I altered in PS to give my own personal signature way back when.
Sort of one of my first tries with multiple layers while having the layers magnified a bunch for detailing. Something Konrad showed me how to do.
So I suppose that has a meaning also.

Yet/but still they're just avatars.

Just like this bee wanting to get past my screen door.
All I have to do is give the guy a huff and puff with my 'mint' breath ... begone.
Never give it another thought.

UNLESS the bee didn't like my 'mint' breath and brings back its entire klan!

Then I'd have to get out my big swatters.

They would call their cousins.

I would bring in the mix chemical warfare.

They would give their 'killer' cousins a shout.

I would call for reinforcement .. [exterminator] and their high powered environmentally hazard chemicals.

While they sit back and multiple ten fold waiting .....

City and County health inspectors, herbicide inspectors would get involved.
They see tens of thousands of bees on my property wearing war paint.

They (bees) start doing the Mel Gibson Scottish 'kiss-my-a*s' sign.

Local TV news get into the act for a hot story. Then National news.
They dig up some garbage that my grandfather on my mothers side once shot a bear in a national park.
US government gets in on the action and the Canadian since my mothers side was Canadian.

Bees are now in the millions.

City,county condemn my property as unsafe.
Government hauls my bacon away telling the -now- world press I'm a radical leftist draft dodging anti-American animal hater for my own safety against all the good-guy societies out in the world.

Bees are now being pampered with pictures,new hundred thousand dollar hives paid for by the tax payers,moving contracts with every possible benefit imaginable.
Top bee linguist in the world interviewing the head bee (never guess who <gr>) spokesman.
~~~ "All I wanted to do is rest my on this guys screen just for a few minutes before flying away when he hits me with this fowl smelling breath!" ~~~
Bees were transported (anywhere of their choosing) to various parts of the globe first class.
Government was pressured for life imprisonment for myself but Rob W talked to the President himself
and I've had my name changed plus a new job.
